The three Graces, or Le Grazie with Cupid Alberto Thorvaldsen (1770-1844), in Sculpture & sculptors/facebook

The three Graces, or Le Grazie with Cupid, is a marble sculptural group made by the sculptor Alberto Thorvaldsen (1770-1844) in different executions.  The specimen sculpted in 1820-1823 is exhibited at the Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen in Denmark.

The mythological subject of the Graces recurs in Thorvaldsen’s sculptural production throughout his life;  starting with the first realization in 1804, the sculptor returns to the theme in 1817, 1819, 1821 and, now in old age, with the plaster kept at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome, in 1842.
