The Wieliczka Salt Mines are well worth a visit if you’re in Krakow.
Like Auschwitz you can do it as a pre organised tour that will pick you up from your hotel, or for half the cost you can get there on public transport and do the guided tour there (you have to do a tour, you can’t wander around in the mines by yourself). We caught the 304 bus from near the main station and it got us there in about half an hour. If I remember rightly English tours are every half an hour, though maybe it was every hour?
It will take up half the day, but when Krakow is hovering around 33 degrees you’ll be thankful of the nice cool mines, plus you can lick the walls (seriously!) and replace some of the salts your body lost while sweating outside the day before. Don’t lick the statues though…
