Pink Floyd – ” MOTHER ” The Wall 1980

Live Earls Court London 1980

LYRICS

Mother, do you think they’ll drop the bomb?

Mother, do you think they’ll like this song?

Mother, do you think they’ll try to break my balls?

Ooooh aah, mother, should I build the wall?

Mother, should I run for president?

Mother, should I trust the government?

Mother, will they put me in the firing line?

Ooooh aah, is it just a waste of time?

Hush now, baby, baby, don’t you cry

Mama’s gonna make all of your nightmares come true

Mama’s gonna put all of her fears into you

Mama’s gonna keep you right here under her wing

She won’t let you fly but she might let you sing

Mama’s gonna keep baby cosy and warm

Ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe

Of course Mama’s gonna help build the wall

Mother, do you think she’s good enough?

Mother, do you think she’s dangerous?

Mother, will she tear your little boy apart?

Oooh aah, mother, will she break my heart?

Hush now, baby, baby, don’t you cry

Mama’s gonna check out all your girlfriends for you

Mama won’t let anyone dirty get through

Mama’s gonna wait up till you get in

Mama will always find out where you’ve been

Mamma’s gonna keep baby healthy and clean

Ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe, ooooh, babe

You’ll always be a baby to me

Mother, didn’t need to be so high

“Música de Graça” | de Fernando Lopes-Graça | por Joaquim Vieira | sáb, 16/12/2023

Caro (a) amigo(a),

Wagner | Der Ring Ohne Worte / The Ring Without Words (Century’s recording: Otto Klemperer)

Otto Klemperer is undoubtedly one of the legendary conductors of the 20th century. Between 1959-1973: Otto Klemperer was appointed Music Director for life and then Principal Conductor of the Philharmonia Orchestra. In spite of the imposing size of this symphony orchestra, Klemperer has always succeeded in combining power and musical intimacy. He delivers the most charming “Siegfried-Idyll” of the entire discography. We have the impression that we are listening to a chamber orchestra with an intimate and shimmering sound. The new mastering allows us to appreciate all the orchestral colors of the Philharmonia as well as the superb acoustics of London’s Kingsway Hall and the warmth of the EMI recordings. Here is a Wagner laid bare, intimate, deep and powerful: the music, and only the music.

The Beatles | Now And Then | The Last Beatles Song (Short Film) | 02-12-2023

Now and Then’s eventful journey to fruition took place over five decades and is the product of conversations and collaborations between the four Beatles that go on to this day. The long mythologised John Lennon demo was first worked on in February 1995 by Paul, George and Ringo as part of The Beatles Anthology project but it remained unfinished, partly because of the impossible technological challenges involved in working with the vocal John had recorded on tape in the 1970s. For years it looked like the song could never be completed. But in 2022 there was a stroke of serendipity. A software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team, used throughout the production of the documentary series Get Back, finally opened the way for the uncoupling of John’s vocal from his piano part. As a result, the original recording could be brought to life and worked on anew with contributions from all four Beatles. This remarkable story of musical archaeology reflects The Beatles’ endless creative curiosity and shared fascination with technology. It marks the completion of the last recording that John, Paul and George and Ringo will get to make together and celebrates the legacy of the foremost and most influential band in popular music history.

Tinha. Ouvi-a dezenas de vezes seguidas. E salvou-me.

NABUCCO Verdi | Grand Théâtre de Genève

Orchestra Orchestre de la Suisse Romande | Chorus Grand Théâtre de Genève Chorus | Music Giuseppe Verdi

Politics. Religion. Nabucco is Verdi’s retelling of the Old Testament story of King Nebuchadnezzar II’s religious conversion. On one side, the fiery Hebrew priest Zaccaria, battling to lead his people from oppression. On the other, Nabucco, the tyrannical Babylonian king and his adopted daughter Abigaille, who will stop at nothing to get her father’s throne and her sister’s lover. Will King Nabucco’s ambition rob him of his beloved daughter as well as his kingdom?

Nabucco was an instant success at its 1842 premiere, with the famous Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves (‘Va, pensiero’) taking on a political resonance that still echoes today. The twists and turns of this epic early opera by Giuseppe Verdi are often seen as a call to the national liberation struggle that would eventually lead to Italian unity. Exile and power, displaced populations and forced migrations are themes dear to Christiane Jatahy. The Brazilian director, filmmaker and author, who was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale in 2022, gives new life to Verdi’s metaphor of the Bible by introducing the words of those who still stand up to tyrants and extremist ideologies today around the world. In this hall of mirrors, in which chorus and audience are reflected, maestro Antonino Fogliani leads the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande through Geneva’s new production of Verdi’s masterpiece along with a cast of excellent bel canto singers, including Riccardo Zanellato, Nicola Alaimo and Saioa Hernández. Here is a telling of epic history to help us reflect on our world today. Full performance streamed on Opera
