Peter Gabriel & Youssou N’Dour | Shaking The Tree

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree

Waiting your time, dreaming of a better life
Waiting your time, you’re more than just a wife
You don’t want to do what your mother has done
She has done
This is your life, this new life has begun
It’s your day – a woman’s day
It’s your day – a woman’s day

Turning the tide, you are on the incoming wave
Turning the tide, you know you are nobody’s slave
[ 1989 version – Find your Brothers and sisters ]
[ 1990 version – Find your sisters and brothers ]
Who can hear all the truth in what you say
They can support you when you’re on your way
It’s your day – a woman’s day
It’s your day – a woman’s day

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree

There’s nothing to gain when there’s nothing to be lost
There’s nothing to gain if you stay behind and count the cost
Make the decision that you can be who you can be
You can be
Tasting the fruit come to the Liberty Tree
It’s your day – a woman’s day
It’s your day – a woman’s day

Changing your ways, changing those surrounding you
Changing your ways, more than any man can do
Open your heart, show him the anger and pain, so you heal
Maybe he’s looking for his womanly side, let him feel

You had to be so strong
And you do nothing wrong
Nothing wrong at all
We’re gonna to break it down
We have to shake it down
Shake it all around

Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree
Souma Yergon, Sou Nou Yergon, We are shakin’ the tree

The Beatles | Come Together (Morgan James cover)

Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine, he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot Coca-Cola
He say, “I know you, you know me.”
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free

Come together right now over me

He bag production, he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard, he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease

Come together right now over me

(Right!
Come, oh, come, come, come.)

He roller-coaster, he got early warning
He got muddy water, he one mojo filter
He say, “One and one, and one is three.”
Got to be good-looking ‘cause he’s so hard to see

Come together right now over me

Oh
Come together
Yeah, come together
Yeah, come together
Yeah, come together
Yeah, come together
Yeah, come together
Yeah, come together
Yeah, oh
Come together
Yeah, come together

Sledgehammer | Peter Gabriel (Morgan James cover)

You could have a steam train
If you’d just lay down your tracks
You could have an aeroplane flying
If you bring your blue sky back

All you do is call me
I’ll be anything you need

You could have a big dipper
Going up and down, all around the bends
You could have a bumper car, bumping
This amusement never ends

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don’t you call my name
Oh, let me be your sledgehammer
This will be my testimony

Show me round your fruitcage
‘Cause I will be your honey bee
Open up your fruitcage
Where the fruit is as sweet as can be

I want to be your sledgehammer
Why don’t you call my name
You’d better call the sledgehammer
Put your mind at rest
I’m going to be the sledgehammer
This can be my testimony
I’m your sledgehammer
Let there be no doubt about it

Sledge, sledge, sledgehammer

I get it right
I’ve kicked the habit
Shed my skin
This is the new stuff
I go dancing in (We go dancing in)
Oh, won’t you show for me (Show for me)
And I will show for you (Show for you)
Show for me (Show for me), I will show for you
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean you (Show for me)
Only you
You’ve been coming through (Show for you)
I gonna build that power
Build, build up that power, hey (Show for me)
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
I’ve been feeding the rhythm (Show for you)
Going to feel that power, build in you (Show for me)
Come on, come on, help me do, come on, come on, help me do
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you (Show for me)
I’ve been feeding the rhythm
I’ve been feeding the rhythm

So Long, Marianne | Leonard Cohen

Um hino ao Amor | Rest in Peace Marianne Ihlen
———————————————————–

Come over to the window, my little darling,
I’d like to try to read your palm.
I used to think I was some kind of Gypsy boy
before I let you take me home.
Now so long, Marianne, it’s time that we began
to laugh and cry and cry and laugh about it all again.

Well you know that I love to live with you,
but you make me forget so very much.
I forget to pray for the angels
and then the angels forget to pray for us.

Now so long, Marianne, it’s time that we began …

We met when we were almost young
deep in the green lilac park.
You held on to me like I was a crucifix,
as we went kneeling through the dark.

Oh so long, Marianne, it’s time that we began …

Your letters they all say that you’re beside me now.
Then why do I feel alone?
I’m standing on a ledge and your fine spider web
is fastening my ankle to a stone.

Now so long, Marianne, it’s time that we began …

For now I need your hidden love.
I’m cold as a new razor blade.
You left when I told you I was curious,
I never said that I was brave.

Oh so long, Marianne, it’s time that we began …

Oh, you are really such a pretty one.
I see you’ve gone and changed your name again.
And just when I climbed this whole mountainside,
to wash my eyelids in the rain!

Oh so long, Marianne, it’s time that we began …

Chuck Berry | You Never Can Tell

It was a teenage wedding, and the old folks wished them well
You could see that Pierre did truly love the madamoiselle
And now the young monsieur and madame have rung the chapel bell,
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They furnished off an apartment with a two room Roebuck sale
The coolerator was crammed with TV dinners and ginger ale,
But when Pierre found work, the little money comin’ worked out well
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They had a hi-fi phono, boy, did they let it blast
Seven hundred little records, all rock, rhythm and jazz
But when the sun went down, the rapid tempo of the music fell
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

They bought a souped-up jitney, ‘twas a cherry red ’53,
They drove it down to Orleans to celebrate the anniversary
It was there that Pierre was married to the lovely madamoiselle
“C’est la vie”, say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell

DONNA SUMMER state of independence | Eu Nunca Guardei Rebanhos, por Alberto Caeiro/Fernando Pessoa

Da série:  um poema, uma música!  Ouvir… e ler!  Experiência interessante!

Eu nunca guardei rebanhos,
Mas é como se os guardasse.
Minha alma é como um pastor,
Conhece o vento e o sol
E anda pela mão das Estações
A seguir e a olhar.

Quando me sento a escrever versos
No cimo dum outeiro,

Quando me vêem à minha porta
Mal a diligência levanta no cimo do outeiro.

Asaf Avidan | Small Change Girl

She can make the birds and bees
get down on their little knees
she can whisper to the breeze
and make her tear the bark off trees

She can make a fog horn ring
she can make the mountains swing
she will make you clip your wing
she can teach your tears to sing

She’s just a small change girl X4
but she’s a world to me

She can turn her flesh to steel
but she can’t get her scars to heal
she can make you think she’s real
she can make a diamond peel

she can get your bed to shrink
she can get your ears to blink
she can get you eyes to think
and she can get a horse to drink

She’s just a small change girl X4
but she’s a world to me

CHRISSIE HYNDE (The Pretenders) | State of Independence

Originally recorded by Jon and Vangelis for their 1981 album The Friends of Mr Cairo, “State of Independence” was released as a single the same year but did not chart. The song subsequently became better known when Donna Summer released a cover version a year later in 1982, which became a Top Twenty UK single (and repeated the same feat 14 years later when issued as a remixed version in 1996) and becoming a Number One hit in the Netherlands. In 1992, a third version of the song – retitled “Spiritual High (State of Independence)” – was recorded and released as a single by Moodswings, with vocals by The Pretenders lead singer Chrissie Hynde.

Donovan | Blackbird | Composição de Paul McCartney | Album Branco

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
all your life
you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise,oh
You were only waiting for this moment to arise, oh
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Morgan Freeman Travels to Uncover the Mysteries of Creation in ‘Story of God’
